They say it's what you make
I say it's up to fate
It's woven in my soul
I need to let you go
Your eyes, they shine so bright
I wanna save that light
I can't escape this now
Unless you show me how

When Mariana was first born, her parents were all over her. They brought her everywhere, toted her around like a fashion accessory. Such a tiny and adorable pup caused the media to go into a frenzy, skyrocketing Mariana's already famous parents in both fame and fortune. Over time, however, that craze died out. Other events in the Mako celebrity world quickly overshadowed the pup that had been born to yet another famous couple. Mariana's parents cast her aside, telling her that she wasn't good enough, that she was the reason that they weren't as famous anymore as they had been when she was first born. Over time, these accusing statements burrowed themselves deep into Mariana's mind, leaving her with a permanent feeling that she's not good enough for anyone. For a while, her parents made somewhat of an effort to stay connected to their daughter, but soon gave up and let her fend for herself. It started with simple things like forgetting to leave some food in the house for her, but soon skyrocketed into things such as locking the door and not letting Mariana inside. She tried to knock, yell through the door, even crawl through a window, but her parents refused to let their failure of a daughter inside for any reasons. They were doing everything they could to remove her from their lives, as she was just another responsibility.
After several days of sleeping in their backyard, Mariana gave up in a fit of tears and ran off. Not knowing where she was going, Mariana ended up staying wherever she could. At the age of around 10 in human years, Mariana had to become an adult and fend for herself.
It was a while before she came crawling back to her parents, begging for them to care about her. When she collapsed on their doorsteps, they sneered that she wasn't their daughter, that they didn't even have a daughter. She pleaded for them to let her inside so she could take her belongings out of her long-abandoned room. They looked at each other oddly, then nodded and let her in so she could try and find her room again. When she rounded the familiar curve of the hallway that led to her tiny room in the huge house, her room was gone. It had been turned into a closet when she left, all of her things discarded like trash. This crushed Mariana more than anything, and she left without saying goodbye. From then on, she stayed as a runaway, drifting wherever the current would take her.
